What is For Face Sake?
For Face Sake is a multi-mask that targets different areas of your face at the same time. Two unique formulas come in one jar, designed to apply together. One formula is for your T Zone and the other for your U Zone.
Who should use For Face Sake?
For Face Sake is an ideal addition if you have combination skin or blemishes.
What is combination skin?
Combination skin is when different parts of the face behave differently. Typically it means a more oily nose and forehead, known as the T Zone, and dryer cheeks and jawline, known as the U Zone.
How do I know if I have combination skin?
If you feel like one part of your face is more oily than the other, you probably have combination skin. Another sign is if different parts of your face react differently to the one skincare product.
It can be challenging to find the perfect product if you've got combo skin. Your T Zone can become more oily, or your U Zone can be left feeling dry.
How does For Face Sake work?
Different parts of your face behave differently. And For Face Sake treats them that way. It targets both the T Zone and U Zone at the same time. The creamy whipped butter absorbs excess oil, unclogs pores, and reduces the appearance of blemishes on your T Zone. While the soothing jelly nourishes, calms, hydrates, and gently exfoliates your U Zone – leaving a soft, smooth, and clear complexion.
What is the difference between the T Zone and U Zone?
Your T Zone has higher sebum (oil) production and larger pores. Here blackheads and visible whiteheads are more common. In the U Zone, less sebum (oil) is produced, but when it increases during hormonal changes, the opening to the pores is smaller, so inflammation, build-up of skin cells, and sebum remain under the skin. In the U Zone, pimples tend to be "blind" or inflammatory.
Why is it difficult to treat blemishes if I have combination skin?
If you have combination skin, choosing treatments for blemishes can be difficult. Typically the U Zone responds to some blemish treatments by becoming dry and sensitive, and the T Zone responds to oils and moisturisers by becoming pimply and oily.
How is For Face Sake different from other blemish treatment products?
Blemish treatment products can be too drying. And when your skin is dry, your body's natural response is to produce more oil. This means more oil in your T Zone. But in your U Zone, where the pores are smaller, the oil can't get out onto the skin, resulting in more sebum (oil) build-up and inflammation under the skin.
For Face Sake treats the different areas of your face differently. We worked with dermatologists to choose ingredients and formulate them specifically for the T Zone and U Zone, so your skin becomes balanced and spot-free.
How does For Face Sake treat blemishes?
For Face Sake is formulated for blemish-prone skin. And it works to target different types of pimples on different parts of your face.
Your T Zone typically has more comedonal, less inflammatory pimples or pustular pimples (open pores and blockage near the surface of your skin). For Face Sake, unclogs the pores and reduces oil on your T Zone with ingredients like Salicylic Acid, Kaolin, and Niacinamide.
The U Zone has more inflammatory deep papular pimples (closed pores) and can often become drier. For Face Sake soothes and calms your U Zone with ingredients like Centella Asiatica and Colloidal Oatmeal while gently exfoliating and hydrating with Lactic Acid, Glycolic Acid, and Hydrolysed Hyaluronic Acid.
How do I use For Face Sake?
Easy peasy. Cleanse your face. Apply the U Zone mask first, followed by the T Zone mask. Leave both masks on for 10-15 minutes, then rinse off with warm water. Moisturise your face following this treatment and use it twice a week for delicious results.
When should I use For Face Sake in my routine?
For Face Sake is best applied in the PM, before an event, or on a Sunday night in. Use it straight after cleansing and before any serums or other treatments.
Is For Face sake safe to use during pregnancy?
The ingredients within our formulas have not been flagged as a concern for people pregnant or breastfeeding. However, this topic requires a more nuanced conversation than many brands allow. To claim a product is undoubtedly safe to use while pregnant or breastfeeding, you must conduct clinical trials in the context of pregnancy. These trials do not exist. While the ingredients and process used to make this product are deemed safe by experts, no testing has been completed on pregnant or breastfeeding people. Despite saying otherwise, this is likely the same for all skincare products you own.
I feel a slight tingling sensation with the U Zone mask. Is that normal?
Yes, the Super Soothing U Zone Jelly has a mix of five different Alpha Hydroxy Acids to gently exfoliate your skin. It's normal to feel a slight tingling sensation. It means the actives are working.
What sort of testing have you done on For Face Sake?
We have conducted stability testing and preservative efficacy testing with an independent lab to ensure that For Face Sake is safe for use. The product passed with the highest grade possible. It is not a legal requirement for brands to conduct these tests in Australia, but safety is a priority for us.
Why do I need the Duo Brush?
Skincare can get a little bit messy. The Duo Brush keeps your hands out of the jar and makes applying For Face Sake simple and more hygienic.
How do I use the Duo Brush?
You can use the Duo Brush however you like. It comes with two different ends. Use one for clay-like textures and the other end for gels and creams.
Why do I need the Big Softie Face Cloth?
Big Softie is the perfect bathroom companion and helps wipe away makeup, sunscreen, and skincare without excessive rubbing.
How do I use the Big Softie Face Cloth?
Wet the whole face cloth in water and gently wipe, removing anything in the softest way possible. Machine wash and dry as many times as you like.
What do you mean by evidence-based?
We understand that brands often use phrases like this but lack an actual definition. Creating evidence-based skincare is part of our ethos and mission – so it's a good idea to define what we mean.
We want our products to do something. That means only selecting ingredients that have third-party peer-reviewed studies with in-vivo data to support their claims. It also means using those ingredients at or slightly above the % they are proven effective and formulating with the right pH, so the actives are stable.
Some of our ingredients are from natural origins, and we know that the quality and potency of a natural ingredient can vary from supplier to supplier. So, we only partner with manufacturers and growers who have in-vivo clinical data to support their claims.
We are constantly striving to improve our evidence-based approach. We will conduct a subjective third-party clinical trial on our final product formulas when we have enough capital.
If you have suggestions on how we can improve, we would love to hear from you.
Are you a clean beauty brand?
The safety of ingredients, quality of sourcing, and level of testing are a priority for us. Our goal is to create safe, evidence-based skincare that does what it says it will. Throughout the formulation of For Face Sake, we worked with two certified dermatologists, three cosmetic chemists, one independent testing lab, and a certified Melbourne based manufacturer. We conducted independent preservative efficacy testing and stability testing to ensure the shelf life and safety of the product.
While formulating this product, all medical and scientific experts we consulted expressed concerns about the "clean" beauty movement. That's because clean beauty has no actual definition and sometimes causes more damage to the skincare industry than good. It intentionally excludes and demonises proven, safe ingredients and encourages you to think that any brand, not "clean" is "dirty". We know it's more nuanced than that, and you can't say an ingredient is "dirty" without acknowledging the dose or application method. For all of these reasons, we reject the label "clean". We are evidence-based.
What are your products free from?
"Free from" claims often spread fear and misinformation about ingredients and use shady science to support claims. And a "free from" claim tells you nothing about what the product does. We're not fans of that. We choose to talk about what's in the jar rather than what we leave out, so you'll never hear us say those two F words about any ingredient.
Do you test on animals?
No, we don't test on animals. And our ingredients are vegan.

What do you mean by price transparency?
With so many options out there, we want you to know exactly where your money is going. We tell you the cost of making our formula, packaging, labour, payment processing and shipping.
What is the cost of making For Face Sake?
For Face Sake Costing:
Formula (ingredients, manufacturing, and filling): $8.34
Packaging (jar, product box & mailer): $4.04
Freight: $3.00
Payment processing: $1.24
Shipping: $8.50 (AU) & $13.00 (NZ)
The standard markup in beauty is 8x the cost of the formula.
Is your packaging recyclable?
Yes, all of our packaging is fully recyclable. However, we understand that even when recycled, small skincare packaging often ends up in landfills. The cost of recycling these small units doesn't outweigh the return for recycling companies. That's why we have an in-house initiative to ensure your empty packaging gets to the right place and is properly recycled.
How does your recycling initiative work?
Collect your jars, send them back, and get a discount on your next purchase. Collect five of your For Face Sake containers, send them back to us, and we'll ensure they get recycled with TerraCycle – a specialist cosmetic packaging recycler.
Email us when you're ready, we'll pay for postage and send you a shipping label, and you'll get 50% off your next For Face Sake jar.
